We are experiencing significant and rapid growth and seek a Community Manager to support our progress through this time and beyond. Working closely with our Member Services Team, the Community Manager will play an integral role in the success of the shared space business model, contributing to the day-to-day activities within the co-working space and ensuring that the overall shared space environment remains functional and conducive to professional success. The Community Manager will also be responsible for reception functions and conducting tours of the space and facilitating sales of co-working memberships and meeting space.

The ideal candidate has experience working in co-working spaces, corporate offices, or customer service roles. They will be comfortable meeting a broad range of people on a daily basis and being an active contributor and team player in a fast-paced environment. A personal relationship with Oakland is appreciated, as our work is deeply rooted in the community.

Schedule

  • This is a full-time, non-exempt position
  • Schedule may include weekends and evenings, but is flexible throughout weekdays.

Compensation

  • Pay Range- $23-$30 per hour depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Manage small to large sales of community spaces and private offices
  • Troubleshoot and manage technical equipment such as audio and video
  • Prepare private offices and co-working spaces for prospective clients
  • Ensure that property issues and damages are communicated with the facilities
  • Ensure that members and employees have access to the building on a daily basis
  • Prepare legal documents for the sale of private offices
  • Sort, distribute, and handle all mail-related duties
  • Provide excellent customer service during sales and exchanges with clients
  • Update bookkeeping databases and spreadsheets as needed
  • Arrange payment plans with previous clients and customers
  • Ensure that customers' payments are accurately recorded in the system after they have been collected
  • Update client accounts based on payment information or contact information
  • Negotiate monthly contracts with prospective clients and educate them about membership subscriptions
  • Actively clean and maintain co-working spaces

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • Office management, receptionist, or customer service experience in an office environment
  • Outgoing personality; comfortable talking with a broad range of people throughout the day with a strong balance toward executing daily responsibilities and upholding professionalism.
  • Experience with a diversity of professional/cultural backgrounds; a versatile people person
  • Excellent communication skills; in-person, over the phone, and via formal emails
  • Basic knowledge of G Suite, spreadsheets, and calendaring
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, and travel between downtown Oakland locations
  • Able to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Able to engage an existing personal or professional network around Oakstop’s offerings

  • Relationship with Oakland and the Oakland community
  • Background in arts, digital media, or other creative professions
  • Fluent in multiple languages
  • Experience with music, theater, or performance environments
  • Experience with social enterprises and small startups
  • Experience with standard sales software, including Liquidspace, Tripleseat, and Peerspace
